Usually we compare the traffic we send to one sponsor, with traffic sent from the same source, with a different sponsor. Then you can easily see which sponsor give you best value for your traffic. That's all well and good, but usually you'd rely on the traffic statistics provided to you by the sponsor. And if the sponsor shaves, he's hardly likely to provide you with accurate traffic statistics!

So how do you protect yourself against unscrupulous sponsors?

Here's a script that will keep track (on your own server) of the hits you send out. You can then calculate accurate clicks per dollar and make realistic and honest comparisons between sponsors. As a side benefit, you can also use this program to compare the effectiveness of different banners/text links.
